The Premium Content Identifier feature enables you to highlight to your viewers which of your available videos are premium content, either purchasable as an TVOD or SVOD product. Once activated, the feature will add a 'Premium' identifier to a video's thumbnail, so your audience can easily identify if a video belongs to a premium product. Once purchased, the lock symbol on the 'Premium' identifier changes from 'locked' to 'unlocked'. This article explains how to activate and manage the Premium Content Identifier feature.
There are three different types of states to the Premium Content Identifier feature:
- A thumbnail with the identifier 'Premium' with a 'locked' symbol: the content is identified as 'premium' and not yet purchased;
- A thumbnail with the identifier 'Premium' with an 'unlocked' symbol: the content is identified as 'premium' and has been purchased;
- A thumbnail without the identifier 'Premium': the content is not identified as 'premium' and can be 'free to watch' if the Premium Content Identifier-feature is active.
Note: we suggest presenting premium content in the same on-demand sub category, to make it easier for your viewers to navigate through all your available premium content.
Activating the Premium Content Identifier
Activating this feature is very straightforward. First, go to Settings from your video platform's CMS. You can find the Premium Content Identifier feature under the 'User interface' tab and there, under the 'Premium' heading. Select 'yes' in the dropdown menu and don't forget to check if 'Display exclusive content' is set to 'yes' as well.
Note: after activating the Premium Content Identifier, please allow up to 15 minutes for the feature to be fully active on your video platform's front-end. See an example of what the Premium Content Identifier looks like on your video platform's front-end below:
