To present your TradeCast-powered video platform application(s) for iOS and/or tvOS under your own company name in the Apple App Store, you'll need an Apple Developer account. In this roadmap, we will explain how to create an Apple Developer account and how to give TradeCast access to this account in order to submit your video platform application(s) to the Apple App Store under your own company name.
If you already have an Apple Developer account, for example because you have previously submitted an app for iOS or tvOS to the Apple App Store, you can skip steps 1 to 4 of this roadmap. All that remains is to give TradeCast access to your Apple Developer account so that a TradeCast Support agent can submit your video platform app(s) under your own company name. If you already have an Apple ID - so not an Apple Developer account - you can skip ahead to step 2.
Note: Apple charges an annual fee for Apple Developer Account holders. More information about these fees can be found on the Apple Developer website.
1: Creating an Apple ID
The first step in creating an Apple Developer account is to create an Apple ID. This can be done via this page on the Apple website. Make sure to activate the additional security options. This can be done by using an Apple device, such as an iPad, iPhone or MacBook, and by following the steps Apple has explained on this web page.
2: Activating 'two factor authentication'
To create an Apple Developer account, it is mandatory to also set up 'two factor authentication'. This allows for a more secure form of loggin in, with which a login must first be confirmed on two platforms. After creating your Apple ID, click on the 'Get Started' button under 'Two-step verification' and follow the steps below:
3: Requesting a DUNS number
Apple uses a so-called DUNS number to verify that the account you are creating is for an existing company. Your company may already have a DUNS number. This is verified in the following way:
- Go to: https://developer.apple.com/enroll/duns-lookup/
- Fill in the form on that web page
If Apple already has your DUNS number, you can continue setting up your Apple Developer account (continue to step 4). If Apple does not yet have your DUNS number, this will be indicated by the message 'Your organization was not found'. Below that, an option is given to create and submit a DUNS number. After clicking on 'Submit', you will receive a confirmation that the number has been successfully requested.
It takes approximately 5 working days for your DUNS number to be assigned to your company and another 2 working days for it to be confirmed to Apple. You may be contacted via telephone by an English-speaking Apple representative to ask you some verification questions to finalize the DUNS number request. We recommend that you take the following steps after 8 working days:
4: Create an Developer account
To turn your Apple ID into an Apple Developer account, follow these steps:
- Visit this website: https://developer.apple.com/programs/enroll/;
- Check the status of your request;
- Choose 'Start your enrollment';
- Make sure to have the following information at hand:
- Company Chamber of Commerce number
- Company website
- Company VAT number (if applicable)
- Company DUNS information
- Company telephone number
- Choose the entity that applies to your company;
- Fill in the form;
- Agree to the terms and conditions and finish the registration.
5: Checking your details
Apple will contact you within a few days using the phone number provided. This will be followed by an email confirming your participation in the Apple Developer program and a link to pay the annual subscription fee.
6: Allowing TradeCast Support to access your Apple Developer account
After you have made the payment, it will take some time for your Apple Developer account to be fully activated. Once this is the case, TradeCast must be granted access to your account. This can be done in the following way:
- Log in to https://developer.apple.com/programs/;
- From the menu on the left, go to 'People';
- Click 'Invite people';
- Add the following email address with the role 'admin': 'developer@tradecast.eu'.
After adding TradeCast as an 'admin', a TradeCast Support agent can add your video platform app(s) to your Apple Developer account. Managing the app(s), such as updating the app(s) with new features and support, is also part of TradeCast's technical tasks.
